Investor & Venture Advisory

Behavioral evidence for investment decisions, from first diligence call through value creation and exit.

Overview

Why the people lens matters here.

Every investment thesis is, at its core, a prediction about behavior. It assumes customers will keep buying, expand and refer; that users will adopt the product rather than tolerate it; that a management team will make sound decisions under pressure; and that employees will stay through change. Financial models describe the consequences of those behaviors. They rarely test the behaviors themselves. Our Investor & Venture Advisory practice brings behavioral science to private equity sponsors, venture capital investors, family offices, impact investors and the founders and portfolio companies they back, so the assumptions beneath a deal are examined as carefully as the numbers above it.

The work draws on more than two decades of behavioral design, research methods and psychometrics, applied to the questions investors actually face. In diligence we read the behavioral signals in customer and operating data: cohort and logo retention, the conversion points that drive growth, adoption and engagement curves, and the gap between what customers say in interviews and what they do in the product. We assess management teams with research-grade methods rather than impressions. After close, we build predictive KPIs that give operating partners, boards and LPs an earlier and more honest view of performance.

We also know the other side of the table. The firm's experience includes founding and grant-funding startups, managing distributed product teams, and running product, sales and partnerships, so our advice to founders and CEOs reflects the realities of building, not only evaluating. And because durable returns depend on people, we connect value creation with social good: impact measurement that holds up to scrutiny, responsible growth practices, and portfolio companies that serve employees, customers and communities well while they compound value for investors.

Focus areas

What we focus on.

01

Diligence that tests behavior, not just numbers

Quality of revenue is a behavioral question. We examine how cohorts retain, where conversion stalls, how deeply customers adopt the product, and whether stated satisfaction matches observed usage. The result is a clearer view of which growth assumptions in the investment thesis are supported by evidence and which are being filled in by optimism, delivered in time to shape the LOI, price and IC memo.

02

People risk, assessed with rigor

Management quality is often the deciding factor in a deal and the least rigorously measured. We apply structured interviews, validated instruments and behavioral observation to evaluate leadership teams, key-person risk and organizational readiness for the plan ahead, then turn findings into coaching, hiring and retention priorities that support the first 100 days and the years that follow.

03

Value creation that compounds and does good

We design predictive KPIs that move portfolio monitoring from lagging financials to leading behavioral indicators, and we coach founders and CEOs to lead through scale. For impact-oriented capital, we build measurement frameworks aligned with the IMP five dimensions and IRIS+ metrics, so financial performance and social outcomes are tracked with the same discipline and reported credibly to LPs.
