Venture Capital & Startup Advisory

Our venture capital advisory helps investors and founders separate real traction from noise, reading the behavioral signals in early usage and revenue data to set milestones between rounds and build companies that scale on evidence.

The challenge

The problem behind the problem.

Early-stage investing runs on thin data. A seed or Series A company may have a few dozen customers, a few months of usage history and a founder who is persuasive by necessity. Investors look for product-market fit, but the indicators they rely on, such as top-line growth, logo announcements and pilot counts, can be driven by founder hustle rather than genuine pull. The question that matters is behavioral: are users coming back on their own, adopting the product more deeply over time and pulling colleagues in, or is growth being pushed uphill?

Founders face the mirror image of this problem. Between rounds they must choose which milestones to chase, and the metrics that impress in a pitch are not always the ones that predict a durable business. As the company moves from Series A to Series C, early habits in hiring, product and sales start to break, and the founding team must lead an organization it has never run before. Venture capital advisory grounded in behavioral science gives both sides a shared, honest language for traction, risk and readiness to scale.

Our approach

How we deliver venture capital & startup advisory.

  1. 01Observe

Understand the user and the founder

We start with qualitative research: interviews with active, lapsed and prospective users, a close look at onboarding and first-use experience, and structured conversations with the founding team about how decisions get made. This grounds the analysis in how the product actually fits into users' lives and work, and how the company actually operates.

  2. 02Signal

    Separate pull from push

We analyze early usage and revenue data for signals of genuine product-market fit: activation rates by cohort, the shape of retention curves, depth of engagement over time, and organic expansion within accounts. Even small datasets reveal whether a few behavioral moments predict long-term use, and whether growth depends on those moments or on founder effort that will not scale.

  3. 03Design

    Set milestones that predict value

With investors and founders together, we define the handful of milestones that should guide the period before the next round: predictive behavioral KPIs rather than vanity metrics, paired with product, onboarding and go-to-market changes most likely to move them. This gives the board and the founding team a shared definition of progress.

  4. 04Test

    Run fast, disciplined experiments

Startups experiment constantly but often without the design to learn from it. We help teams structure A/B tests and pilots with clear hypotheses, adequate samples for their stage and honest readouts. The goal is a faster cycle of learning that conserves runway and produces evidence a next-round investor will find credible.

  5. 05Scale

Build the company that comes next

As the company grows, we support the founder and leadership team through the transition from founder-led selling and product decisions to a scalable organization. That includes coaching, team design, board reporting that tracks leading indicators, and the habits of measurement that let a Series B or C company keep learning as quickly as it did at seed.

Who we serve

Who engages us.

We work with partners and platform teams at seed and growth-stage venture capital firms, corporate venture arms, angel syndicates and family offices investing directly in startups. We also work with founders and CEOs of venture-backed companies, often at the request of their investors. Common trigger moments include evaluating a Series A or B opportunity, setting post-investment milestones, preparing for the next raise, a stall in growth between rounds, and the Series A to C scaling period when founder-led habits begin to strain.

Industries

Impact lens

Beyond the balance sheet.

Startups that grow on genuine user value tend to treat customers better and build healthier cultures than startups that grow by pushing metrics. Our venture capital advisory favors products that help people do what they already want to do, and we are cautious about growth tactics that exploit attention or erode trust. We also pay attention to the people building the company: sustainable founder workloads, psychological safety on small teams, and organizations that stay humane as they scale.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Is early-stage data really enough to analyze?

Often it is more informative than people expect. Even a modest number of users can show whether retention curves flatten or keep declining, whether specific onboarding moments predict long-term use, and whether engagement deepens over time. We are careful about the limits of small samples, combine data with qualitative research, and present findings as evidence that sharpens judgment rather than replaces it.

Do you work for the investor or the founder?

Both, depending on the engagement, and we are always clear about who the client is. Investors engage us for diligence and post-investment support. Founders engage us directly, or at an investor's suggestion, for milestone planning, experimentation and coaching. When investors sponsor founder support, we agree in advance what will be shared so that trust on both sides is protected.

What makes your startup advice different from other advisors?

The firm has founder experience, including building and grant-funding startups, managing distributed product teams and running product, sales and partnerships. We pair that operating perspective with behavioral science and research methods, so recommendations are both practical for a resource-constrained team and grounded in evidence about how users and teams actually behave.

Can you help prepare for a fundraise?

Yes. We help founders build a traction story grounded in behavioral evidence: cohort retention, activation, engagement depth and the leading indicators that predict revenue. Investors increasingly look past top-line growth to these signals. Presenting them honestly, including what is not yet proven and how the next round will test it, tends to build more credibility than a polished narrative alone.
